Video is always a touchy subject for someone with his feet firmly planted in shooting
still images. When it really comes down to is a matter of priority, of preference in
determining what medium is best to tell a story, or convey a sense of action. Shooting
video and stills is usually more of a headache than anything and after a point it becomes
hard to do justice to one or the other. Certainly, the addition of motion and sound can
provide a more complete documentation, as opposed to the capturing of
a single moment that is accomplished with a still image.
My approach to shooting video is that it is a tool, like a camera, that has its place. Video
presents another viewpoint, that, combined with audio or still images, or written words,
can be coalesced to provide an overall perspective that any one medium cannot accomplish.
