Captain Ray Sheldon is a 1976 graduate of the Great Lakes
Maritime Academy. He has sailed with Mittal Steel(Ispat Inland, Inland Steel)
his entire career. This is Captain Sheldon's first trip into Superior.

The Sykes makes about 150 trips a year. In 1999 the Sykes hauled its
largest single season tonnage with 2, 968,887 tons.
The trip to Superior is the 121st of the 2006 season. The Sykes
will carry approximately 18, 200 tons of taconite pellets to Indiana Harbor.
